The Power of Connection & Feeling Heard

As attachment beings, we are biologically wired to be in connection. We thrive physically, emotionally and soulfully in companionship, community and closeness. We are supposed to need each other.

The Healing Power of Connection

In connection, we can be heard, witnessed and validated by an 'other'. These are some of our deepest yearnings. In connection we are able to share the secrets of our inner thoughts, desires and fears.

Our Shared Need for Feeling Heard

Feeling deeply heard becomes a soothing balm to our distress and aloneness. Our inner struggles feel smaller, take on new perspectives. We feel less overwhelmed to face them. Remember our resilience.

In connection we also come into contact with a profound truth - that our suffering, while difficult, is our shared human experience. We are deeply connected to one another in this way.

A problem shared, is a problem halved.

A joy shared, is a joy doubled.

Most of us sincerely want to be there for those dear to us in their time of need. Many of us find it hard to ask when it's us who needs an ear.

Remember when you are faced with your own trials to reach out to those you trust to connect to and share yourself with. It is highly likely they are also longing to be there for you.

“We are like islands in the sea,

separate on the surface

but connected in the deep”

~ William James
